June 19-21, 2024-For three full days the Georgia FIRST President and Board of Directors spent time enjoying middle Georgia and planning their next season of robotics at their Board Retreat. While in middle Georgia, they toured the Museum of Aviation and learned a little bit about the history of the museum, toured the National STEM Academy and Innovation Center and tested their abilities to fly aircraft in Mission Quest, which proved to be a little more challenging than driving robots.
They also enjoyed having dinner with team coaches (on all levels of the robots), and community leaders from middle Georgia. The coaches shared their successes of their teams and their excitement for the new season, FIRST DIVE- coming this fall.
On Thursday, Georgia FIRST was greeted by our Robotic Teams from FRC- Flying Legion, and Built4Bibb, FTC Teams- from Mary Persons and FPD and FLL from Monroe County Middle School.
On Friday, the Georgia FIRST team concluded their visit with a tour of the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) AI-ENHANCED ROBOTIC MANUFACTURING STUDIO located at the Georgia Veterans Education Career Transition Resource (VECTR) Center. On this tour, the team learned the many courses offered to veterans and was excited to learn of the skilled workforce taught by CGTC at VECTR.
We enjoyed having Georgia FIRST here in middle Georgia and giving them a taste of all the amazing work that is being done to prepare our Future Workforce in STEM careers.
We wish the Georgia FIRST Robotics board of directors and teams an amazing season of FIRST DIVE.
