Coding Canines FLL Team 1259: one of two Georgia teams to attend the prestigious WAFFLE event!

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) hosted the third annual WAFFLE (WPI Annual FIRST LEGO League Event), an international celebration of youth robotics and innovation. The event was held in Worcester, MA., June 13-15, 2025 and welcomed 108 FIRST LEGO League® teams from 40 U.S. states and 30 countries, including some of the top-ranked teams in the world.

And our Coding Canines FLL Team 1259 was there!

One of two teams representing the state of Georgia, the Coding Canines students scored their highest run of the season at 355 points! They were able to work together and strategize while at the table to achieve that score. "As their coaches, we were so proud of the way they made on-the-spot decisions and trusted one another.", said Adair Woodward.

The students were able to collect buttons and wrist bands from other states and countries that represented not only those cultures, but also their research and tested innovation projects. A special highlight of the event was hearing from FIRST founder, Dean Kamen.

All in all this was a great opportunity for the Coding Canines who used this event to learn a great deal about how to improve for the next season.
